The same thing happened to Emily a couple of times when she was little. Once her whole body went blotchy. That was creepy!

Hi, i don't think its Cf related. Its just how some of us are.

I know i go blotchy when i get realy upset, and cry. Its just the way my body reacts. I think its normal, although if you are concerned it doesn't hurt to ask the doc's.

I get blotcy when I am nervous, overheated or drink red wine. I hope we can rule out the red wine for your son. LOL! I can usually "feel" it when I get these because the areas seem warm. Mine go away after cooling & calming down. The only other thing I have had is broken blood vessels that usually have come with severe coughing/hemotysis. But that didnt go away quickly. It looked like I had measles for a few days. If its bothering him or you are truly concerned then contact the doctor!

I don't get blotchy, but when I exercise hard or cough, I turn really really red - it freaks some people out thinking I am going ot have a heart attack or something, but I don't - it's just what happens. Cf related? I dunno, but I sure get redder than anyone else I know.

I get really blotchy when I cry a lot or when I am very overheated. My face gets red, but with white circles around my eyes and mouth. As you can imagine, it is very attractive.

I think the red issue is CF related. I always turn much redder than anyone else and have people try to get me to stop working out because they were worried. I always have to reassure them that I am fine!

Is he fair skinned? That might have something to do with it. Reece gets that way when he has been playing hard. He is def fair skinned too!!!

I'm very fair skinned and if I'm really nervous, upset or
crying, really hot, especially when working out, or drinking (bar
burn!) my face and sometimes chest, neck, and shoulders are
all red and splotchy. My face will feel hot. It's pretty
embarrassing. My mom is the same way but not quite as bad. My
son, who has CF, also gets very red and blotchy when he's really
upset or really hot from playing and running around. I always
thought it was because of our very fair skin. I always feared
public speaking and once when I had to do a presentation in high
school my whole face and neck were bright red, but I had that white
line, like Jenica said, around my mouth, I guess since I was
talking. After my presentation class was over and it was lunch
time. I had to go to lunch like that until I could cool down and
calm down. I never wished I had some foundation so much in my
whole life!

he is fair skinned . i'll just explain again . he does not go red all over he gets red patches just like leopard marks i suppose the red patches makes the bits that stay white look really white. only on his face too!!!!!! weird.

Danny-2, gets the same red splotches wheh he cries. The older kids say "Danny has red dots again!" Just on his face/ head. It looks really bad, like he's been crying forever. They usually last about 10-15 minutes.

very interesting!

I never connected this to cf ever-but when I cry, I get such awful blotchiness. I mean-I look frightening. And it stays for at least 15 minutes. Usually 20-30 minutes.
Bright red spots too. Exactly what you are describing.

I never thought it was a cf thing because my family has fair skin
for the most part, and we tend to get red blotches when upset or
hot or really nervous (mostly on face and neck). My son does too,
but he's the only one with cf. I had 2 friends in high school the
same way also with no cf. I myself have anxiety attacks and
this happens when I have one. The dr. said something about when my
heart rate speeds up the capillaries expand so blood is brought up
closer to the surface of my pale skin, making it look blotchy. (She
has seen me when I looked like this because I had an anxiety attack
at the dr.'s office.)

When he's having a screaming fit his body temp and blood pressure go up. I get the same thing when I'm really mad or cry. Just a natural reaction.
