IV ABX question

Just anticipating what our routine and storage will be like...

The boys' doc wants to change their usual IVs from tobra/ceftaz to colistin/ceftaz.

We've never had colistin so I'm curious for when they come home- is colistin a drug that has to be mixed for each dose (like imipenem), or can the home care company send out syringes or eclipse balls( like tobra)?

She said each ABX is three times a day. Jesse will also do imipenem (four times a day) so it will be a crazy schedule as well as a space issue.

The question was inspired by my thought <i>where we are going to put all those syringes/balls</i>? Our refridgerator already has two boxes of tobi and four boxes of pulmozyme!

We just ordered a new little fridge just for meds<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">isgust;

I know our situation is compounded by having two on ABX at once. What do you guys do?

You are one busy mama. I can't help you on this, because Mak has always been in the hospital when on IV antibiotics. I have never done Home IV Antibiotics and do not want to. With all the things she does now, I can't imagine doing the IV antibiotics.

You are one busy mama. I can't help you on this, because Mak has always been in the hospital when on IV antibiotics. I have never done Home IV Antibiotics and do not want to. With all the things she does now, I can't imagine doing the IV antibiotics.

we invested in a little fridge for meds-that keeps it out of our regular food fridge. You are going to have your hands full. Will be praying all goes well.
