Ugh, sorry to hear of the lousy bedside manner the Dr. used to tell you about the lung junk. My boy is only 4 1/2 and I'm actually holding my breath today because tomorrow he has a clinic visit 2 weeks after his last one and the Dr. said if he didn't clear some junk she is putting him in the slammer for IVs (despite culturing nothing since last March and having an obvious garden-variety cold the past 2 weeks). I have not yet figured out how to get used to hearing "mucus & crackles" instead of "sounds all clear" at his clinic, so I keep looking at these pages to see if anybody else has.
As for timentin, my boy has been on IV timentin twice and had no side effects. It was in combination with tobra both times. The first time at 14 months all spent in the hospital; the second time at around 2 years old with home IV. The home IV was much nicer than staying in the hospital except for the dressing change that scared him to death & the fact that the meds took about twice as long to run with the "balls" than with the hospital IV pump.
best of luck.
