I only feel the benefits of iv antibiotics after i have finished them. When i'm on them i get very tired and sleep alot. There are many drugs i am resistant to,so there arn't many i can chose from! The ones that are no good for me cause blotchy rashes, vomiting, temperatures and head aches. The worse i've ever been was when i was on pipercillin (not sure i spelt that right?) I was very sick, because it was killing all my white blood cells!

I hate the IV drugs. They usually put me on Meropenem, Tobra and Bactrim. They used to use cephtazadime (spelling?) instead of Bactirm, but I developed an allergy to it.___________________

Anyway, whenever I start IV's I am as sick as a dog. Usually by day 2 I start getting horrible nausea and throw up every couple of hours. They put me on anti-vomit drugs and they help a little, but not completely. Adivan seems to help a little too._________________________

Oddly enough, as soon as I get home, the vomiting stops. I think it is a combination of things...lack of sleep, constant needle pricks with blood work, picc lines, iv's before they get the picc in, weird food, and of course the potent drugs.

I don't see why joint pain & achiness would not be side effects...they can be side effects of oral antibiotics, so commone sense would dictate that some people would get achiness/joint pain from IV form of these drugs too.
Oral Levaquin often makes my joints ache after a few days on it.
