Spacey... your mom got lucky. There is no cure for any cancer whatsoever. Some people get cancer, get treated, and never see it again. Good for them. Other people get cancer, get treated, and it shows its ugly head again anyways.

You can't count chemo, radiation, and surgery as a "cure" for cancer, because there's always the "oh will it be back this time?" worry when you go in for the next round of tests. And for a lot of people, it does come back.

If it was truly a <b>cure</b>, you'd get it, move on, and never worry about your cancer again. Not to mention there are some cancers with a much sh*ttier rate of treatment than others. I have a friend who has a really evil and aggressive brain cancer that has already reappeared despite surgery, radiation, and chemo.

SD:

<i>"If I had to break down the two biggest negative things associated with the human race, it would have to be the two words: Control, and Greed. From those two words, you can explain nearly 100% of everything bad humans do, or have done to each other."</i>

To paraphrase you:

If I had to break down the two biggest<b> POSITIVE </b>things associated with the human race, it would be the two words: <b>LOVE and SACRIFICE</b>. From those two words, you can explain nearly 100% of everything GOOD humans do, or have done to--AND FOR, each other.

To paint ALL humans, and pharmacists, scientists, politicians, corporations, ect. with one paintbrush is ridiculous. I know you believe everyone in power is corrupt and bent on their own advancement (except for Ron Paul...) You are welcome to your "opinion"--I do not hold this belief or share your pessimism.

I am not "Mary Sunshine"--while I do not believe there will be a "cure"--I believe that there ARE good people, devoting their lives to finding one.

As do I. Sadly, those who are good people who toil away trying to help other deserving people, make little more than a dent into the negative human condition while the true evil turds continue to profit and exploit as many as they can get away with. And no I do not view Ron Paul as a saint. My original plans to vote for him have more than likely changed. I liked the guy for his "reboot" approach to our system. Our system/country has vastly strayed from the original vision of our founding fathers, and not in a good way. Hence, it needs a good flushing, and in turn a rebirth. And I would vote for anyone who can speak past the point of head trauma patient, with the same vision.

Look, I'm not a massive cynic/pessimist. I'm a pretty cheery person who does a ton of introspective thinking. I just know human beings. I also know there are some genuine, wonderful people in the human race. Sadly, the bad guys out there often are the ones who end up holding the power (hence one aspect of my control perspective) over many of the "good guys" in the same race. Usually (but of course not always), the path of altruism leads to a fulfilling life where you have helped many, but bypassed the desire for power. Those who pursue power instead of altruism and the genuine desire to help others, usually turn into complete wastelands on the inside, and devalue human beings and their happy lives.

Want a good start (because everyone seems to ask me WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO CHANGE THINGS)? I would venture with getting rid of all lobbyists, and ear marks in bills, and letting the people vote on EVERYTHING would be a great start. But sadly, our system has become so corrupt and has festered like a cancerous sore for so long, that the idea of changing it, short of a violent forceful revolution, is quite close to impossible. Sometimes I think i'm in the minority of those who took the red pill.

Anyways, sorry for throwing this in a different tangent. As you have probably surmised by now, I don't think there will be a low cost one time cure for our disease. If anything, it will be quite profitable for whoever pushes it, and it will either be a lifelong regimen, or last a very long time. Either way, it won't be quick and cheap, and that will be perfectly intended.

I think it's because you work in law enforcement and see the dregs of humanity, and I work in a hospital and see compassionan and sacrifice...that can influence our thinking alot. It all depends on what we see--I see our government as still the best in the world, and I am excited about the election. You see it as more of the same. Oh well--at least we both agree that we don't think there will be a cure--at least in our lifetimes.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
