Hello Mandy, Allie & Jennifer,
When 'flare ups' occur, did (or your husband) have any obvious signs of swelling?

Patrick does not appear to have any sign of swelling - he can get red patches but they do not appear swollen.

I think I have read somewhere that with CFRA there is not always obvious signs of swelling at the joints.

Mandy, you mentioned you got your first symptoms when you were a sophmore. What age are you when you are a sophmore (I' live in England)?

My thoughts and good wishes to you all.

Thanks
Sean

I have no experience with CFRA but was just thinking about some natural therapies like acupuncture, Reiki or nutritional analysis might help. Many of these systems can really help and are gentle for children. Just an idea. Not sure what the availability and licensing procedures are in Europe but it may be worth investigating along side traditional medicine.

Warmly,

Ry's joints felt hot, but there was no real sign of swelling other than that. Have you seen a rheumatologist? Being as they specialize in arthritis, they might be able to help you.

Hi Sean-
At different times, I did have some swelling, but normally, my joints just felt warm to the touch...like Allie said. My first severe attack was when I was 15 years old, but I can remember having achey joints when I was in 5th grade..so 11 or 12 years old.

I hope things are looking up<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
Let me know if ou need any info on anti-inflamatory diet.

One warning about the mediterranean diet..it may not be as effective from one person to the next. Ry tried it for a month, with no change in his symptoms. Which would have been something we could just shrug off, other than his weight plummeted. So bear that in mind if you do decide to try it. Like most treatments, it may or may not help.
