Just a crappy day...

I am sorry to hear about your bad day! I have had one of those overwhelmed appointments as well. I felt like an absolute zombie when I got home. The only thing that brought a smile back to my face was my little angel smiling at me! So grab up those smiles from your little ones!

As far as the treatments go, you are only human. We as parents of CF are asked of a lot. There are times you are going to slip up. There are times when our children are going to slip up. All you can do is move forward and get back on track.

Just curious- why is your daughter being treated for aspergillus? Did she test positive for it? My 3 year old had a bronch on Monday and we are awaiting results about a possible fungus b/c nothing has helped his cough. The thought of a fungus terrifies me because Aidan on long term prednisone is totally frightening! How does your daughter do? Thanks. I totally understand those days- we are having quite a few ourselves..

hey, i know how you're feeling. my parents went thru the same thing when i was little. they hated to see me have to go through all that crap. when i was 8 my mom made the decision to have me go thru my first sinus surgery. it was a horrible experience, but i honestly think it made me stronger. i am now an (almost) fearless 28 year old woman w. CF. your kids are stronger than you think they are. hang in there--your kids will appreciate it when they grow up.

I wanted to thank you guys for hearing me out on my rampage the other day. You have no idea how good it felt just to vent it out, rather than keeping it in as I usually do. As twisted as it may sound, there's comfort in knowing that other families are out there going through the exact same situations that we are. The sun did come up this morning, and I was in a much better state of mind. You all had very good advice - one being that the guilt is very counterproductive - how true that is. I do know that my children will be stronger having to go through all of this. Thanks again for letting me vent!

My daughter hasn't cultured asperg., but her IGE levels have been high over the past year. They've drawn blood a couple times throughout the year, and they always seem to be elevated. They did an allergy test on her also last year (the one where they prick your arm) and she was instantly coming up allergic to asperg. They're having a hard time giving her a positive dx of ABPA, so I guess they just want to have some clear answers. Once her labs come back, they're going to reassess everything and go from there. I can't say she's coughing a whole lot more, just a little bit b/c of the seasons changing. They're trying to get a better control on her asthma.
