Just found out our little girl has CF

First of all I would like to say hello to eveyone and thank you for providing some wonderful information.

Yesterday we found out that our nine day old little girl's blood test returned a positive screen for CF. So after lots of emotions and lots of reading we have begun to deal with this. Everything is still quite foggy, but on Monday we go back to our doctor and on December 4th we have an appointment at one of the centers.

Sorry to have to welcome you to our group, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of valuable information here. Right now I'm sure you're a bit overwhelmed with emotions, the what ifs, the unknown... Just take things one step at a time.

Depending upon her symptoms, the doctors may prescribe digestive enzymes, some vitamins... We started off doing chest physiotherapy (CPT) or Bronchial Drainage (BDs) right away to keep our son's lungs healthy even though he didn't show any symptoms. Took us awhile to get used to the new routine -- not just normal baby stuff but medications and treatments, but eventually we got used to a schedule. We also went thru a bit of a grieving process. This wasn't what we'd expected when we had our child and we didn't know ANYTHING about CF other than what we'd seen on primetime television.

Remember your little girl is STILL your little girl. There just may be a few extra things you need to do to keep her happy and healthy.
