I was diagnosed with diabetes 26 years ago. It is just another bump in the road as my old doctor would have said. Granted it is a scary bump, but you will get over it and learn all about it , deal with it and manage it . Exercise is important and can help control blood sugar. If you have to go on insulin it isnt so bad, a lot of us on here are insulin dependant. You get used to it believe me. You can still eat pretty much anything you want within limits of coarse while taking insulin to cover what you eat. Now if you arent insulin dependant, exercise and diet may make all the difference for you. I know with cf dieting is always frowned upon, the more calories the better for us, but if you are able to limit sweets and still have a good amount of calories going in, you may do well. It is very scary i know...... But it isnt the end of the world. Stay calm ,and remember diabetes is manageable, you will get thru this and feel more comfortable once you learn all the facts.
