Zoe,
You are fine. You are a great mom and human, too! :) We've done that (just wait till your daughter is doing it herself; accidents happen). Our doc has told us it's ok to miss a treatment- just one- if something happens. As far as the compressor, I'd call your docs office if they are the ones that ordered it for you. It the Phil Resp. the round one? We had one like that for awhile till it gave up. I THINK it's not the compressor so much as the nebulizer cup that matters but I could be wrong on this.... double check me....

Yes, the compressor matters. You need one with a strong enough PSI in order to break the medicine into a fine enough mist. For TOBI, if you don't have one of the ones listed, you want one with comparable PSI. If you have one not listed, you can find out the average/operating PSI in the manual (the one you have or online) and compare it to one of the ones listed here.

Here is some good info: Which Nebulizer for Which Drug?

Harriett,

I read your posting and the attachment about nebulizers. My DD continues to be very successful with manual Chest PT as far as coughing up sputum each time. I have noticed a trend. When she takes a shower and then we do chest PT she really coughs up a lot of sputum. I asked the pulmonologist about using her neb albuterol versus her inhailor and spacer albuterol before her chest PT and was told to give it a try and see if it helped because sometimes the steam helps. We tried and my DD noticed no difference. After reading your posting about nebulizers I am wondering if out neb may not be working well. Meanwhile, my DD had a ton of knots in her hair after swimming last night and it took me an hour to get them out with conditioner in the shower. Well this was just meant to be because she coughed up a ton during chest PT after that shower and has had a better energy day. She describes today as breathing cleaner air. I want more of these great days, so I am interested in purchasing a new neb and compressor. I see washable and disposible nebs. It looks like Pari is a preferred brand. Any suggestions on a neb that may act like the shower did to help with Chest PT would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Harriett for clarifying the compressor question. That's a great article you referenced. There is so much to keep on top of with CF, isn't there? I am so glad we have a place to go when we get stuck! Hugs, Lisa
