I recently found out Monday, while applying for my unemployment, that I won't be getting paid for another month! The company that fired me had seemingly become exempt from the reason for my unemployment status, and I was considered as resigning status, therefore my unemployment is delayed!
On top of that, I'm supposed to pay this unreasonable amount of monthly payments for health and pension. The pension is a killer, because I have no idea that if I go to the states, I will get all that money back, or it will be with the new pension agreement with the U.S. (Agreement was made in 2005), so IF I actually retire, I'll have something to retire with!
Unfortunately, I still can't just UP and GO! So, I have to find a job, but this is a true test of my perserverence! I thought the true test was standing that jerk of a boss who got me here in the first place!!
Sometimes I wish I could be a cop here! The way some of them work is so ridiculous--they're such wimps!!
Anyway, I figure one of the best bets is to call the Consulate in Osaka to see what kind of help they can give me...considering I'm still a U.S. Citizen. It just feels like I got screwed in quitting a job, then getting fired from another! I can't let this happen to me anymore, and it really sucks when they are so much more knowledgeable about their laws that they exploit it (and me), to which I have to do so much extra research just to protect myself from letting it happen again. Sure nuff, I'd probably get rich writing a book on the "things they don't tell you when you come to live in Japan"!!
