Just wanted to mention that trying to keep your house clean with alot current products can cause as much harm as good. I have recently started experimenting with green cleaners because of all the chemicals in the products currently and because I believe I have become sensitized to some extent to some of them. I have also read things about some of the products we use be harmful to asthmatics and even home deodorizers causing lung damage.

This thread discusses alot of those sorts of things but there is alot ot sift through as well

you can also see what I have been trying on my blog:

I personally cannot live in an unorganized place. I never leave any clothes on the floor, put away everything I don't use. To this day though, I never really been a clean freak. But I do take a few precautionary measures. I work in "da hood", so whenever I touch the phone there, if I have to, I grab an anti-bacterial wipe. If I can't find one, it's on my mind the rest of the day, I'm on edge.

Whenever I go grocery shopping, especially during the cold months, I wear vinyl gloves when I touch the cart. You never can be too careful, regular people don't think twice about a few coughs, and really take their health for granted. I think this tactic has helped me, of course I didn't start until after my last cold.

But I am not of the opinion that a child with CF necessarily needs a spic and span environment. Just as long as it's basically clean, and not Joe's apartment, I wouldn't go overboard. You have to fight fire with fire. I would get your child exposed to a plethora of germs, maybe, just maybe, a insusceptibility will develop.

Hey Elisa-
I'm so sorry that your baby has CF.

I think keeping a clean house is very important. That being said, we live in the real world and things do get dirty. So don't beat yourself up if you skip a week of vacuuming..... IMO other things are more important than cleaning, like keeping up with your childs treatments, meds, appointments etc. You could have the cleanest house in the world, but if someone smokes in your house, or she never gets her meds etc. is way more important. A clean house helps, though, and a lot of people on here have very good advice of what works best.
