Keeping Pulmozyme cold

I keep the medicine for my breathing machine (I think its called pulmozyme) in my mini fridge, I was spending the night at a friends and one of my roomies went into my fridge to steal a soda...he did not close the fridge right and everything in it was warm for 12-20 hours. Is this bad, or is the medicine still good?

It probably has gone bad. I would call your doc and tell them what happened, b/c you prob will not be able to get a refill if you were not ready for it...or just call the pharm, but I dont know if they will need a new prescription.

Does it still look very clear or is it yellowish? If it is yellowish, then DEF bad. Was it warm when you touched it or could it feel any coldness?

this is what the Pulmozyme website said....
"Pulmozyme must be stored in the refrigerator at 2-8°C (36-46°F) and protected from strong light. It should be kept refrigerated during transport and should not be exposed to room temperatures for a total time of 24 hours." if it was just a few ampules you might just want to throw them away. i know thats wasteful and expensive but better to be safe. it its a lot of doses you could call your CF clinic/pharmacy and ask. i'm sure if you get on the pulmozyme website you could call them and ask. hope this helps. -jaime

Everything was warm for that long, or the door was open for that long? If it was just that the door was open, I would think it would be okay (especially if it was a box full, and/or the 'fridge was full- it would take longer for them to warm up to room temp). It is supposed to be good for 24 hours at room temp, so as long as it doesn't happen again, you should be fine. If you have room, keep a cold pack in your mini fridge too- even though it won't be frozen, it will buy you a bit of leeway in case it happens again <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .
