Are there ANY good care centers in the eastern part of KY. I can't travel far west where it seems that a lot of people go. Are there any good CF docs near Ashland that are maybe NOT part of a care center but part of a good medical facility.

I'm from western KY, but when we were searching for CF clinics for our son, I believe Lexington and Louisville were the only "CFF accredited clinics" in the state. We opted for the Children's Hospital in Nashville, TN (same driving distance as the KY clinics for us, but a better clinic in our opinion!) In fact, we ended up moving to TN for this reason!

What about clinics in neighboring Virginia?

Best wishes!

Hi... I am originally from KY and my girls have gone to the Lexington clinic... My personal experience there was not so great. They didn't seem to want to involve the parents in the child's care very much and were not very open to my thoughts or questions... (that was many years ago so it may be completely different now). I much preferred the clinic in Knoxville, TN. I LOVED it there. But I'm sure that's too far for you. I've heard really good things about the Louisville clinic but never been there personally. I know there is a clinic in Charleston, WV... I don't know anything about it though. That isn't far from Ashland. Sorry, I know I wasn't any help...just tossing ideas around...

Good luck!

Garran was diagnosed at the cinic in Louisville. And was there for the first 3 years of his life. He did very well clinically there, and we really loved the doctors there. I dont know about the adult clinic or if the clinic he was at did adults as well as peds. I think it might have only been peds.

But the care he received at the hospital was great, as far as bedside manner. He was in the hospital quite a bit from birth. over 15 times his first year of life, but he was able to get his weight under control, and that helped his lung function alot.

You said you didnt want to go too far west tho, and I dont know if Louisville is too far for you to travel.

I believe Cincinatti, OH has a center. If you are close to that portion of KY.

Good Luck
