Kids and the summer heat...

They are in tablet form. I just break one in 1/2 and the boys swallow them. We also do elete electrolyte in all their water.
It tastes a bit salty to me, but the boys cannot tell the difference between water with elete added in vs. "normal" water. It seems a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way. I am getting a bit frustrated though, as I can't seem to get it shipped to Hawaii

Alyssa doesn't do well in the heat either. She hasn't connected it yet, so she'll be all excited to go bike riding or play outside and comes back beet red (like others have described) and way worse than her brothers. I'll have to think about the salt tabs -- we do a lot of gatorade and salty snacks. too.

Nice to hear there are some other kids that get bright red in the heat. I think we're going to try the salt tablets as well! Supposed to be in the mid 90's here again all week..blech!

I just ordered the salt tablets and the Elite. I'm hoping this allows him to spend some time outside. Deven also gets really, really red. His body temp. also goes up and stays that way for a bit, anyone else? My daughter seems fine, if she's red, it is usually because she has a sunburn!

Can't wait to hear how the salt tablets work for everyone!!! We started off at 1/4 of a tablet and noticed that the half worked much better. They say that the salt can upset "normal" people's tummies, not sure that would happen for our CFers but better be safe and have them drink lots of water with it

Hi there. Its a good thing to ease into the salt pills, and definitely take it with liquid. I have always found that a little food in my stomach helps a lot too. As an adult, I have found I can take up to 4 at a time w/o stomach upset. Since I work out twice a day, involving 2-3 lbs of water loss, my usual dose that keeps me from totally binging on salty foods is about 5-8 pills per day. Hope it makes your little one have better heat tolerance!

PS I also have an issue with my potassium dropping too low, so I eat a lot of bananas, oranges, and other high K foods. That seems to help immensely during the summer heat as well.
