kind of a gross question...

The past few weeks I have been getting really sick with all the weather and temp. changes in new england <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> i have been on penicillin for an infection and ever since i started it i have lost weight and every time i cough i vomit (i think thats why i have lost weight), but i was just wondering if anyone else has this problem with antibiotics or if i am having a weird reaction. any info would be great!

yup, happens to me .... your body has a gag reflex and sometimes coughing triggers it.

why are you on penicillin? oldest drug in the world, with the most resistance in the world.... yikes!

This is quite common. It helps to hone the coughing technique in such a way that you don't make yourself gag. It takes practice, but it helps. I'd call the doctor if I were you to get a different prescription. Penicillin is a lame excuse for an antibiotic these days. Get something more useful for the CF issues. Be sure to tell your doc about the vomit. That definitely needs to be addressed.

Ive definitely been there before. I am also in New England!!! How cool....and yes the weather is soooooo wierd around here. I wouldnt change it for the world tho, I love the variety of the four seasons. Sometimes it could also be a side effect of the medicine, so your gag reflex is bad from the coughing, and then the side effects of the med make you nauseus.

thankyou for all the replies. its so weird for me puking from coughing so hard b/c up till recently i thought my gag reflux was broken lol b/c even when i was really sick i would never thro up, and now its like everytime i start coughing it lasts for like at least 10 minutes and i know im done when i puke. and even when im driving i have to pull over so that i dont vomit in my car. i know its gross. i am def. gonna call my doctor about it tomorrow. but i think i was put on that antibiotic b/c cipro, zithromax and one other one that starts with a b i am immune to . they dont do anything for me anymore.
