Ladies....has anyone had their tubes tied?

I had my tubes tied 6 days ago. I am still bleeding and when I say bleeding I mean BLEEDING. I'm spoiled because my periods are really light, so I'm not used to this.

If anyone has had their tubes tied, how long did you bleed? I tried looking this up on-line but I couldn't find a specific answer.

I have a follow up appt on March 23rd. So I'm assuming since the dr gave that much time between surgery and check up that bleeding is probably normal. But how long should I expect to bleed? And might I add...that was a miserable surgery!

Ok, thanks!!

Hi Kelli,

I had my tubes tied around 2005. From what I remember, I only had spotting. I don't remember having any problems w/ bleeding at all. You may want to call the surgeon just to be sure it's normal. I'm sorry you had a bad experience and I hope you feel better soon!!

Hey Kelli,
I think that it depends on the person. I had a c-section for Brady and after they got him out, they tied my tubes. I had continuous bleeding for 8 weeks!!! I talked to the OB about it when it was happening and they told me that it was normal to bleed for 4-6 weeks and thought that I was probably just bleeding because I had the c-section too. It eventually did stop and my periods went back to the way they were (but not normal). It was just really annoying and seemed to take forever to go away but my doctors didn't seem to worried about it.

Hey Kelli,
I had mine done in 2004 and from what I can recall I had a heavy period. Heavy for me was 5 days of a heavy flow...And my cramping was rough too. I remember calling the doctor about them.

My surgery was rough too. The nurses said I cried through out the whole thing for my husband and I kept telling everyone I was making a mistake. (The block kept me awake but left me with no memory) They also told me I had the OB crying...
