Never had regular periods until I was in my late twenties, then it settled down a bit into a 29-31 day cycle. Always had LOTS of bleeding during ovulation, and during period time. And not just for a few days either....a week to 10 days sometimes. Horrid cramps too. Anyhow, its much better now, only lasts about 5 days, flow isnt too heavy, a lot less chunks (OK, gross, I know, sorry). Best of all, less pain. But yeah, its always pretty much sucked at your age and was unpredictable. I've never used chemical birth control. So yes, others with CF have this issue.

If it helps, I'm 5'5" and 140.... never have any problem gaining or maintaining weight and I haven't lost any significant weight recently.
I'm trying to look up maybe some herbal treatments that could help with this (as long as they don't interfere with my CF meds). Nice to know it's not just me having this issue though.

Mine was irregular--skipping months and about 40 days between cycles. Also horrible cramping, so bad I would throw up from the pain each time I started. It all became regular after I had my pregnancy three years ago. That is also when I hit my 30's, so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Hi there. I have regular periods but I wanted to suggest you do some online research about the herb Vitex (aka chasteberry). I took it to help me conceive my daughter but it is used to help regulate menstrual cycles.

Talk to your OB/GYN that is the best bet, especially when it comes to planning pregnancy. Also it could be PCOS, or a number of other factors. My periods were irregular in my early twenties, but are now back on track. Good luck TTC!!

I'm pretty sure progesterone only BC can cause your period to be very light or stop all together. I have had the Mirena IUD for 2 years and I only have a period every 3 ish months now, when my periods were always on 29 day cycles before. I know Implanon (also progeserine only) can do the same thing with periods. I hope you find something that works for you!
