Late Diagnosis

So I was diagnosed at 13 years old... after my pediatrician claiming I just had a 'cold' or 'allergies' or 'asthma' despite all of the symptoms that I actually had. Literally when I switched Doctors (I had come to the point I wanted a female Doctor) She asked how long I had known about my CF.. and my reply was 'What's that?' Soooooo immediately sent to the hospital for testing. And that's how I found out... Anyone else diagnosed that late that can relate to this? I just keep thinking of all that wasted treatment time and how I may have taken care of myself differently (better) if I hadn't been a knuckleheaded teenager when this all started...

Hello,
My 10 1/2 year old daughter was just diagnosed March 9th of this year. Its been really hard on all of us. I'm trying to find her someone around her age to talk to. The late diagnoses has been rough to deal with as you know. I just thought it would be good for her to talk to another kid going thru the same thing. Let me know if you or anybody else that would be interested<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I was Diagnosed at 30 years of age. I am now 31. I always was told I had really severe Asthma. Now that I know I have CF it explains so many other health issues I had and could not find reasons for. Trying to get used to the big life change with daily treatments, vest therapy and I have been hosptalized and then home pic line with IV's 2 times so far. I try and remain very positive and healthy. Best of health to everyone out there living with CF.

I'm male 70 years of age and was diagnosed at age 47. I was about 15 before CF had a name and then "only infants had CF"

After many years of lung problems, stomach surgery and being hospitalized, with pancreatitis, on and off for a period of about 10 years, a Dentist, slightly older than 47 was diagnosed at Massachusetts General Hospital for CF. Fortunatly I was able to be pushed onto his coatails.

Being diagnosed saved my life. I have been much healthier since and I go to the Adult CF Clinic at MGH.
