Late pregnancy shower?

I am starting to talk about possible shower dates with one of my aunts (yay!). Right now it looks like either June 7th (I'll be 29w) or July 19th (I'll be 35w). It kind of makes me nervous to schedule it for 35 weeks, but I'm not sure if that fear is reasonable or completely unfounded <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">.

So those of you that are at that point already (or have had kids before), would a shower at 35 weeks be ok? It'll be out of town, but only about 3.5 hours away. I'm just worried about how well I'll be breathing then (my FEV1 is a little lower than most, baseline around 50%)and of course there's part of me that's worried about going early....although hopefully that won't be an issue!

I had a twin pregnancy and delivered full term (38 weeks) but my OB told me to stay w/in 30 miles of the hospital after 30 weeks. It wasn't mandatory of course but the way he phrased it was, "just make sure you're willing to have your babies in the town you're traveling to, and remember if they are born away from home, and they are early, they will most likely spend a week or more at that hospital in the NICU"

If your Aunt is willing to throw the shower on June 7, why not go for it? 3.5 hours is a pretty long distance from home in the third trimester. My first shower (I had 4!) was at 28 weeks. And my last shower was at 38 weeks, the day before i delivered. It was my husband's team at work that brilliantly planned that one. Leave it to the men to expect a 38 weeker to be available for a baby shower the day before delivering twins! LOL

if she can i would try and do it early instead of at 35 weeks. i'm a big parnoid person, so for me even my shower is freaking me out. i'm leaving next tuesday to go home for mine. i'll be 30 weeks. it freaks me out because home is 8 hours away. luckily i go to my ob the day before i leave for the normal check up. and i have been in touch with my cf clinic to see their opinion on where i should deliver. my cf clinic is 3 hours away from where i live, so if something happens to me in delivery i don't have the proper cf care. so the hubby and i are leaning towards setting it up to where i deliver at unc instead of here in our little town. anyways i have no idea why i wondered off into that. but i would try to have your baby shower early just in case, cause you never know and that way you have your baby stuff so you can set it all up before you just don't feel like doing anything but sitting on the couch with the remote in your hand (what i do every day lol). have fun at your baby shower though!

The only reason I say plan the 29 week one is because I wouldn't want to ride 3.5 hours each way in a car at 35 weeks if you can help it. Just for comfort reasons. And honestly, labor for a first time mom usually lasts A LOT longer than 3.5 hours so even if you started getting real contrax 3.5 hours away you can just leave immediately for home. Labor isn't like you see on TV where it is severe and sudden. It generally starts off gradually. And you probably don't want to head to the hospital at the first sign of labor anyway.

I'm looking at a CF clinic appointment when I'm about 35 weeks and my clinic is 3.5 hours away (by car - 4.5 by train). I'll probably be taking the train up there and then the car back home. Doesn't worry me. But this isn't my first pregnancy so I can understand your worry
