I haven't REALLY laughed in years.

Editing: That sounds sooo depressing when I re-read it...you know what I mean though right...when I was younger I had this huge long rather crazy sounding laugh and once I got started I just didn't stop and then I would get to laughing at the fact I couldn't stop etc and well it's been a long time since I've laughed from my gut....probably cuz it's been a long time since any air has gotten in there! Ahhh well I'm laughing onthe inside for sure and I do a lo tof *snort* ing. It makes me think of Marry poppins.....I think I'm a blast of "ha" per Bert.

I haven't been able to laugh for years, well my normal laugh. When things really crack me up there is this high pitch hybrid laugh that I concocted a while back. Actually...I have been ragged on for it because it is annoying but it is what I got so screw'em! Of all the things CF has taken from me my laugh is what I want back the most.

i miss my laugh SO much

i really want to laugh but i hate the intense coughing that comes after it. i still laugh but its just weird- its not MY laugh! its the thing i hate CF most for because i love laughing and love people who make me laugh and now its not so fun to laugh!

Hey Sue, I also have the same problem.... Most of my family and friends i thinik realize it. But theres nothing stopping me from finding things funny !!!! I want to enjoy everything i can..... I try to keep the outward laughter under control (sometimes impossible) but can have the biggest smile on my face i want !!! Be As Happy As You Can ! You deserve it, heck we all do.....Joni 54 y/o w c/f

yup - laugh = hard red faced cough. I am at 70%, but even in high school when i was in great shape, it happened. My friend used to say I sounded like a car trying to start. Now when I cough, often my students tell me I sound like I am laughing - so I guess my cough and laugh are pretty indistinguishable. I still laugh though. Sometimes its embarrassing, but I love laughter and I won't give it up.

I haven't been able to laugh without coughing for at least 15 years, even when my lung functions were in the 120's. So yeah you're defanitely not alone. I'm still always laughing though.
