laughter - the best medicine - and it might help clean out your lungs while you're at it!

I was thinking that I'd like to laugh. and I am a firm believer of being able to laugh at myself. So I was wondering if anyone had any funny Cf stories to share?

I have a hard time making things I type seem funny, but here goes:

When I was in college I went with a friend to buy cigarettes. I didn't smoke (for obvious reasons) but she did. She forgot her ID however, and asked me if I would buy them for her. As I got up to the counter with two cartons of cigarettes, I started to cough - and I mean it was a good one - the kind that starts out sounding like a car trying to start and builds up to nice green phlegm. The old-man-emphysema-sounding cough. The clerk working is looking at me very concerned and all these people are stopping to see if I'm OK. But I think it is hilarious that I am having a coughing fit while buying cigarettes, so I start laughing while I'm coughing, which makes my friend laugh (being a good friend, she knows exactly why I am laughing!) and makes me cough harder. Now we are both cracking up (me coughing/laughing) about the fact that the people in this store definitely do not think that I need to be buying any cigarettes! I've already smoked one too many as far as they are concerned.

One day I was laying down in the bedroom while my husband & daughter were in the living room. I started to cough. My family now says the start of the cough sounds like a diesel engine trying to start. At the time I didnt have that label & my daughter heard it & really thought it was someone having problems getting their car started. She had my husband looking out all the windows trying to find this car. I heard the commotion (sp?) & came out (still coughing like a diesel) & thats when they realized it was me.

My doc ordered 20 blood tests (I kid you not, everything from white blood cell counts to, apparently, syphylis testing??). When the nurse got out those vials and labels, as well as the biggest blood-drawing needle I've seen in my life (which looked more like a large toothpick), my jaw must have dropped to the floor. She apparently got every single tube in the lab together, and it took a freakin' long time to draw that much blood. I jokingly pleaded with her not to lose--or otherwise have to redo--those tests... on the positive side, she was quite good at it, and it hurt surprisingly less than I expected, given the size of that shish kebab skewer.

We went to eat at the local UNC student's cafe afterwards. I tried to prick my finger to get a blood sugar reading, and it didn't work. Not a drop came out. (The overall amount of blood she drew wasn't that whopping, as you give more while donating, so I must have simply been too jittery to use the lancet correctly. Still, all things considered, that was hilarious!) The situation turned even more surreal when, in the middle of our meal, the nurse walked into the same cafe (which was tiny, and anything but crowded). I laughed and hid my face behind my bag, whispering at my girlfriend that "she came back for the rest, save me!" Heh, heh.

I have a funny one, When my husband and I were dating, (we were at the stage where we were pretty confortable around each other). I was at his house at the time and was sitting on his bed, when all of a sudden I needed to fart, so I tell him that and he says go ahead, so I did and the next thing I know he is in the corner of his room gaging for some fresh air. It was so hilarious, I still laugh about it to this day

After my husbands vasectomy he needed to use ice packs, 10 mins on and 10 mins off. He put a big blanket around the lower part of his body and when our daughter saw that he was in pain she asked what happened. I think she was about 2 yrs old at the time. To avoid a conversation that he wasn't prepared to have he told her that he hurt his knee. Then she started to approach him and my husband asked her what she was doing. Her reply "I'm going to kiss your bobo better". I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants. She has a caring heart and wanted to make his "knee" better, and all I could do was laugh.

I see my endro doctor once a year, and inbetween visits I started seeing the wonderful guy I'm with now. So at my next visit we did the usual weight, temperature and medication review. When she asked if there were any new meds I was on, I named the brand of birth control I am on. She asked me what kind of medicine that was and I told her birth control. She said "What are you taking that for?" DUH!!!!!!

I was so taken aback, I didn't realize that she wanted to make sure I wasn't taking it for hormone replacement, so I explained to her what BC was for. Yikes! I was so embarassed, but now I just laugh about it.
