I wrote my donor's family about a year after my transplant. I got my tx in March and I wrote it around the first of this year. I just felt so grateful that I had gotten a transplant. I started off with what my life was like before my transplant, what the day was like when I got it and how grateful I was that I'd gotten it. I got my lungs from a 16 year old boy, and his mom called my mom after we were able to exchange addresses and phone numbers. Of course I was at work but my mom talked to his mom. Then she called me on my birthday She said that I was the only one that has contacted her out of all the people that recieved his organs. It creates a speical bond between you, your family and their family.
