Life Insurance on cf children

We have life insurance policies on every family member except my son born 9-10-2006, diagnosised with cf.
I just applied for a gerber life insurance plan for my son and was denied on the sole reason of cystic fibrosis. I have thought about contesting the decision but wanted to find out more information before choosing this route.
Does anyone have insurance on there cf child, and how hard was it to get?
I would love to hear anyone's story.
Thanks,
Carey

My work offers me "no denial plans" for each of my kids. They don't even ask any questions about health etc. They are small plans. I took one out on each one. But its term, not whole life -- so I just renew it every year. I'd love to get her whole life insurance, but it seems that it is destined to be denied. Really at this point, having insurance to just cover a funeral is okay by me. I'm hoping that once she is no longer my dependent, that she will be healthy enough to work for a company that provides group health and life insurance. I wish we could do more to help her out on this, but we haven't found a good option.

Hi Mommafirst
Thanks for you input. My son already has a policy through my husbands work and I suspose that will have to be enough for now.
It just makes me so mad that with all the great steps forward the medical field has had with CF treatment in the last 10-20 years that insurance companys will automatically deny coverage. For all they know the current generation of cf kids will live well into their 60's! I'm so upset that I want to move my daughters policy to a different company.
