LIFE SPAN?

Ok....Im sorry for bringing this up but i need to know...What is the average life span of a cfer who has had it all there life...Ive also had a transplant because of the cf...and latley i just keep asking myself about it...im a type of person who feels like id let you down if i were to leave or something so i find it kinda hard to get close to a person but maby with this answer id be able to rest..again im sorry for asking but i need to know..Thanks

from what i understand life exp is 37.5 yrs and getting longer every day!!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> dont hesitate to get close to someone....enjoy every day of your life b/c even if you didnt have cf who knows when you will pass....only GOD knows that....just live to the fullest!!!

That's exactly right---live your life to the fullest. Yes, there is an average life expectancy for cf, but only God knows how long you will live.

Did you see the post wishing Hal Soloff Happy Birthday. He has cf and is in his 70's!

Tyler, I would have to 2nd the above posts, enjoy life while you have it, let tomorrow worry about tomorrow.

However, if you want a more concrete answer, I don't believe one exists. Of all CF'rs (dx a birth and post-tx such as yourself, and dx as an adult with the advent of better testing) the average age has raised to mid/late 30's.

How long will you live, nobody knows, same with my son who was dx at birth and at 6 has major liver issues. Will it be 50 as some on this board have reached, or 20 as some are lost? If we knew I think it would only make life harder to live.

Remember, that every day is a gift and live it, and don't be afraid to love. If you know you don't have 70 years, too many of us waste them anyways, so live life to the fullest.
