Superwoman, ahem I mean Lindsey, called me this afternoon to give me the scoop. This morning started out with her getting woken up to have all chest tubes pulled. Woohoo! She said it is much easier to breathe and get around. By the end of the day she'll be free of all lines and tubes except an IV (in her port). The epidural was about to come out when I talked to her, but she felt confident the pain management would still be good. She will be on a combination of fentanyl patch and oral narcotics. There is a rumor going around according to nurses that she may be going home by the end of the week. Unbelievable! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Surgeons told Lindsey and family that this transplant came in the nick of time. You may all recall from her blog that the pre-transplant testing showed mild pulmonary hypertension...well, that had gotten a great deal worse. Noone realized just how extremely sick Lindsey was until they opened her chest. I'm sure Lindsey herself will have more to type about this when she returns.

Today was a very happy day for Lindsey because she received bunches of cards and gifts from us! She wanted you all to know that she was thrilled and her Mom cried seeing all the stuff that was sent. So many of you sent things to Lindsey, but here's a few specific things she wanted me to mention:

Kybert (Kylie) - She loved the cat and the first words out of her mouth were "This looks just like my kitty!!!".

letsrockecfem - Please tell Emily I LOVE it! When I'm not wearing it I'm going to hang it on my wall.

Littledebbie - She doesn't have your card yet, but don't worry, she's on the lookout. She didn't get my stuff yet either and I'm in the same town! Go figure.

dbtoo - Oh that poem is so good. Everyone cried and loved it. Thanks!!!
