Little red rashes....

I keep getting little red rashes that appear on my face, stomach, and back. They seem to appear when my white blood cell count skyrockets. I noticed they quickly disappear when I'm put on a course of strong antibiotics (Minocycline/Cipro) and the inflammation calms down. I've had an allergy test (skin test) done and it came back negative. I'm going to get a more invasive blood allergy test just in case.

Does anyone else get these types of rashes before they get an exacerbation? Are they common? I suppose it could be a good thing as they let me know when things aren't going well in my body, but they look ugly and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out where exactly they are coming from. Any leads would be appreciated.

I get it on my face (the red rash) when I am fighting something (not necessary a full blown exacerbation). Usually when my arthritis is at its worst (CF arthritis) then I get the rash and.... then I know to lie low and take it easy.

I am not sure if this is the type of rash you are talking about but google "spider angioma" and look at the images so you can see the picture. My son has cf liver disease and he has a few of these on his face and/or chest. When he is fighting an infection I notice they are more prevalent and when he is on the right antibiotic it goes away. I first noticed them when he was diagnosed with liver disease last year and I assumed they were there and would stay. As he started to feel better they went away and when he is sick they come back. I also notice just broken blood vessels around his face when he is not feeling well, like when he is really run down.

Thanks Tara, I don't think its spider angioma, the rashes I have/had look completely different than the images shown. Also, I've had a liver and kidney test done and they both came back normal. I'm thinking it may be my overactive immune system or an allergy of some kind. I'm getting an allergy blood test done in February, so we'll see. Coincidentally, I just started a course of Cipro and the rashes are fading fast, which also leads me to believe it could be a warning sign for infection. Maybe the increase in white blood cell activity is causing it? It's a mystery for sure! :)
