Lobectomy

What lead to the decision for your lobectomy
I have had bullectomys on both sides (large cysts which had turned the top of both lungs into useless pockets which kept popping causing pneumothoraces)

What part was removed
The top of my right, then a year later, the top of my left.

When and Where did you have it done
In the Brompton, UK

What was the recovery like
I had a very speedy recovery the first time as the op was planned and was more preventative to stop further pnuemo related complications. The second was an emergency op after a pnuemo refused to resolve and consequently my recovery took loads longer.

How do you feel now
Lungs are poor now but that is nothing to do with the two procedures I had (without them I probably wouldn't still be here actually).

Any questions I should ask the dr.
My main concerns would be the general anaesthetic - definitely worth it if the procedure is necessary but just making sure you have good care before and afterwards (I was on IVs for two weeks prior to it when I had the planned op). Best of luck, hope it helps

Thanks Joni and Angel, and we do plan on starting IV's a couple weeks prior to surgery just to make sure things are calmed down in there.

Just bumping in hopes that there's more experiences out there to share
