Locked threads

I get so tired of coming in here and finding threads have
been locked.

This thread is in the Adult Section, and I beleive that
was the title of the the Last Locked thread.

We are Adults here, this is the Adult Section of the site.

Why must a thread be locked just because it gets a little heated.

After all, we are all Adults, Aren't we ?

I don't know, seems to me that Jeanne explained her position on certain types of heated conversation in her last post. Now that this site is bringing in more sponsors, members and visitors, the moderators (I believe) are feeling even more responsible for the lack of tact that some people show when talking to others here. What I got from Jeanne's last post about this kind of thing, it had more to do with the bigger picture than allowing people to speak disrespectfully of others on this site.

That's what I got from it anyways, which would explain why they locked it.

Your explanation makes sense Kelly, but I too was scratching my head wondering why the really inappropriate posts don't just get removed? From what I remember, that's what use to happen all the time. I saw many more, "deleted my moderator" or 'post removed, user has been banned" than I ever did locked threads.

It is their decision to choose of course, but I thought for the most part that this thread that was locked was acutally progressing quite civilly, with many of us expressing our different views, opinions and reasons for statements in a very adult like manner.

Oh well...

Ha ha. Wouldn't it be funny if this thread got locked? I'm going to report it to the administrators and say it offends me. =-)

I was joking in the last post.

But one thing I would change if I could.

Set the site so a person could not post anonymously

There are some situations that just suck, and anonymous posting is one. We can't get rid of it because it's good for new people to come here and genuinely test the waters before identifying themselves, especially if they or teens in the younger forum have embarassing questions. The problem is that some people abuse it.

I agree brad. sure, newbies like to post anon. to test he waters but signing in with a user name isn't a committment to anything. Nor do you have to give out your social secrity number, date of birth or anything else. You don't even have to list your real name when you sign up. I think anon. should be done away with for a while. But it's probably not going to happen so oh well <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
