When you say "sign off" you mean actually going to the logout thing on the upper right, correct? Are you closing your browser too and shutting your computer down as well?

I think there is just a delay there.
There have been times I logged off because I had to go do something, then when I come back, before I log back in, I would see what "Users" were logged in & low & behold....my name is still on the list, even though I am logged off.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
