I just completed genetic sequencing for my unborn son and he shows three mutations for having some form of CF when he's born. Our genetic counselor suggested we post a note to ask anyone who might be willing to give us a reference for an CF savvy pediatrician in the Burbank, CA area. Burbank is 10 mins. from Pasadena and also near Studio City/Hollywood. My husband and I would be most grateful to anyone out there that might be willing to share any referrals with us so that we can get a jump start on finding the best care for our unborn son.

Thanks!
Krista

So sorry to hear that your baby will have CF. I dont have any experience with pediatrician in the Burbank area but I have heard of some drs at UCLA that are very good with children with CF.I dont know names specifically but if you need someone to call for a referral try calling the adult center at USC and ask them for a ped that is familiar with cf. There phone number is (323) 442-8522 ask for Debbie Bennetiz. Good Luck with your search. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hi Krista,
I agree, I would think starting at your nearest accredited CF center would be your first step. Your situation is a little different than many of us here. Having the diagnosis before your little one is born will allow you to investigate and find the right CF care provider for you. After you find your CF doc, I'll bet they could refer you to a pediatrician they work well with. Our CF doctor referred us to our pediatrician when we moved from Michigan to North Carolina and we are so happy we did it that way. We ended up with a ped who already knew CF, knew our doctor, and the communication between the two of them is fantastic.

Best of luck to you!
