I know this is not an appropriate place to put this. But, what can I say....You're my online Support. So, I come tonight looking for some help Because I have found some very resourceful people on this site. This has nothing to do with CF, but I'm hoping one of you could point me in the right direction.

Two weeks ago my best fried died. She was only 31 years old and it was of congestive heart failure. It seems she put her baby down to bed that night and sometime in the night she fell to her death alone. A day later when she wasn't answering her calls her sister went to her home to check on her and the baby. There she found her sister body, and the baby screaming in his crib. My friend died two days before her baby's 1sr birthday. I can not tell you how painful this all has been. The baby had no father, and now he is left for the Grandmother to raise. She called me tonight and asked me about a support group designed for Grandparents raising grandchildren because of death. I have been googling for hours and having no luck. If any of you know of the correct wording to go about this or an appropriate site. Please point me in that direction. It be very much appreciated. I'm not thinking very clearly. I'm usually much more resourceful at this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

Sarah

Sarah,

I am so sorry for your loss. I can not imagine how you feel. In terms of support groups, there are grief support groups usually sponsored by a hospital. Perhaps calling you local hospital about community outreach and grief support groups? My MIL went to a grief support group after my FIL died last year. It was sponsored through a hospital nearby.

Sorry to hear about the sudden death of your friend.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://grandsplace.org/
">http://grandsplace.org/
</a>Appears to be a national organization.

They have local support groups. The town next door, Newtown, has a monthly meeting that as I understand is open to grandparents parenting their grandchildren after their own children could no longer for one reason or another. In Newtown, a upper middle class community, it is largely because of drug (prescription and heroin) use.

Sarah, I'm so sorry. I hope your friend's mother finds the support she needs. I was raised by my grandparents, so I very much appreciate people who completely change the direction of their lives to raise their grandchildren.

I will pray for you, and for your friend's family.
