Loss of voice

I used to lose my voice when I was on prolonged antibiotics. For me it was the first sign that I was getting thrush. I would start with hoarseness, then it would become tender and difficult to swallow.

I would NOT get the white patches that they say you get with thrush until it was really bad - if I let it get that far. Usually my voice would be down to a whisper within a few days of the initial hoarseness. Just keep an eye on it and maybe see if they can give you mycelex tablets or diflucan or something if you think it may be thrush.

Take Care,
Lindsey

ohh oohhh, i lose my voice too. It started with tobi but now it happens when Im not on tobi, dont know why and sometimes Ill go to my parents house and out of no where my voice gets hoarse which is probably caused by an allergen my parents have a cocker spaniel i think the stinky dog is the culprit but it doesnt happen all the time thank goodness.

I mentioned the hoarseness to my doc a long time ago and he told me not to talk to loud which i have that problem when I get excited about something. I don't do anything for it except try not talk as much and maybe suck on a cough drop to keep my throat moist, my throat is not sore either.

Also if you are coughing a lot that will irritate the vocal cords as well.

I tend to loose my voice alot too...more like a raspy thing though. It never fully disappears. I attribute it to all the inhaled meds, they can't be good for the vocals! It does get worse with the Tobi, though I do notice it now on my off month too. I don't try to do anything for it, I just chalk it up to another CF thing. I don't really know if there is anything we can do for it...cough drops like Jen said maybe? Or maybe just some hard candy so that it keeps the throat moist since I thought cough drops aren't supposed to be good for us <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Sorry I couldn't help more!!
