Low Grade Fevers

A few years ago when we were on vacation in the mountains, ds got a little crabby, decreased his eating and ran a low grade fever. I was concerned it was an ear infection 'cuz that was usually what happened with those symptoms, but I'd given him some tylenol and he was fine the next day. I believe it happened a time or two after that.

Currently my parents are visiting -- so DS has had some late nights, erratic eating and I just got a call from preschool notifying me that he has a low grade fever and the stomach flu is going around. Could be that he's just reacting to being spoiled rotten by his grandparents...

I asked if I should get him, take him to the doctor... The director said she was just notifying me because of his CF and that we as parents would know best. Silly thing is that I DON'T know. I'm so clueless sometimes about this parenting thing.

So DH goes to check on him. He's working on a project, says he's fine, doesn't want to go home and doesn't want any tylenol.

So I guess we just keep an eye on him. Get him BACK into a routine tomorrow -- I was already planning a quiet evening at home and regular sinus rinses (he's sounding a bit stuffy again) since my parents are leaving tomorrow.

Ugh, I hate worrying about the what ifs, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was already anxious about this visit due to the late nights and spoiling. Plus, when we have houseguests -- my brother came up for a visit, too -- I worry about germs. Sounded like my brother was coming down with a cold, my mother ALWAYS is going on about her health... Sigh!

Liza,

Hope he feels better; could be he's just feeling a little run down. Around halloween time lots of kids were getting stuffy noses, fevers, sore throat. I get to feel very edgey(is this s word?) Anyway, Maggie had come home from school around that time complaining of a sore throat; I bought a gallon of orange juice and Sammy and Maggie drank it all in like 2 days. It was wierd but she perked up and felt better. Taking it easy sounds like a good idea, and I hope he fights off whatever bothering him.

Thank you! I know on here I'm not alone in my fears. I just am sooo superstitious. I feel like I can never, ever let my guard down to say DS is doing okay, for fear the other shoe will drop -- that god, karma, whatever, will come back to bite me in the butt for being too overly confident about DS's health.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it's just a matter of his being a little run down and won't turn into something horrible. Ugh, I'm such a worrier! Sigh!

I hope he's not getting sick. You know, whenever I have company come and stay, or have to go stay away from home for a few days, I run a low-grade fever. I guess it's the stress of the change in my regular schedule. It could very well be that he is just over stimulated with grandparents there, and you are probably right to wait it out.
