Low on Iron

So yesterday I started getting blurred vision and dizzy spells. So I called the doctor to make sure all was ok and they wanted me to come in this morning. Well then went through all the things they could check and everything seemed fine. They decided last minute to take my iron. They said my last test came back a 14 which was good and a bad would be 11.4 I was 10!!!! They drew blood in hopes that my level wasnt really that bad. Anyways, question... can this effect the babies in any way or is it just gonna make me tired? I forgot to ask and they're gonna call me Monday with the final results.

It can make you very fatigued and cause other problems like those you already mentioned. Hopefully they get you on an iron supplementation right away. Beware though... the Iron WILL make you constipated so start taking some metamucil or something along with it.

I had low iron with Alexa and I have it this time around as well. Low iron during pregancy is really common. I take Ferra Caps which are a generic form of Ferro-Sequels. They contain a stool sofener so that helps with any iron related constipation.

You can take liquid floradix instead of an iron pill. Check out <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.florahealth.com/flora/home/usa/products/r64771.asp
">http://www.florahealth.com/flo...a/products/r64771.asp
</a>
I know my local health food stores carry it so I'm sure yours do too. You're much less likely to get constipated w/ Floradix and it has a higher absorbtion rate then the pills.

When my nephew was *severely* anemic earlier this year my SIL gave him the floradix along w/ the liquid iron his doc prescribed (often instead of the prescribed one). His iron was fine after about 3 months on the supplements.

Check out this link at whfoods.com <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid=70
">http://www.whfoods.com/genpage...name=nutrient&dbid=70
</a>Its all about iron and the best foods to find it in. I LOVE that website because I can look up just about any nutrient and find the foods that I need to consume.

I'm sure your babies will be just fine.
