Low sweat test but still concerned

Thanks Melissa......your usual good advice. We live in a very rural area & there's no choice in pediatricians although Mom likes this one as she had her as a child. I think the obstacle to overcome is "The sweat test is no longer the gold standard of CF testing like it use to be when thats all there was." Like many GP's, she's about 10 yrs behind the times, combined with the fact that like many drs. they prefer to chase after the simplest/cheapest route. I guess I can only continue to lurk here to learn as much as I can and take some comfort in the fact that probably the treatment for now would not be much different?

If you go to www.cff.org and click on finding care centers in Maine you will find there are clinics in Maine. We travel 50 miles to our local CF clinic and have also traveled to MA(5 hours away) for more intense CF care. You should be able to get good medical care in a rural environment, don't let them use it as an excuse.

(that plus I think wanting to believe she doesn't have CF) that right now she won't push to get the consultation. I take care of the baby while she works a few days a week, so I guess I'll just keep a watchful eye on the baby & keep educating myself so I can make suggestions when things don't seem right.

I just read this now.. I would encourage your daughter to read on this website so she can see how important it is to completly rule out the dx of CF..

Prevention is everything... There are a lot of ppl on here with low sweat test numbers and still have CF..
