Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you had experienced lower back pain. I'm 17 weeks and this week have almost been laid up all day with lower back pain. I can't get comfy, can't bend or lift Abi so it's been a nightmare. I spoke to my midwife at my 16 week appt this week and she said to see how it goes if it doesnt clear up to talk to my GP but lower back pain was common in pregnancy. This isnt just general aches and pains though i generaly am in alot of pain to move am not sleeping as everytime my other half or i move in the bed im woken in pain again. Paracetamol or ibruprofen arn't even touching it.
Any advice greatly received!!
Thanks in advance

See a chiropractor!! Get in ASAP. I found my chiro when I was pregnant with Logan. At first I was going every month, then every 2 weeks, then every week - and by the end it was twice a week! And he never once pressured me to go - I was the one who needed and asked for it. My lower back/pelvis would hurt so badly - it would almost render me immobile. He said I had sacro-illiac joint instability. Basically since our ligaments relax while pregnant it can cause your pelvis to get out of alignment and your muscles spasm while trying to compensate for it. I would have a HUGE knot in my pelvis at every visit. After a visit I'd be fine for a few days till the pain started to come again. He was truly what saved my sanity at the end. And he doesn't use traditional ciropractic maneuvers on preggo women - most of the work is done through massage. I continued to see him every month or so after I had Logan and now that I'm pregnant again I'm sure I'll be seeing him more often than once a month sooner or later.

My other suggestion would be to use a heat pack on your lower back to get it to relax a bit.
