Thank you cheygemini for saying that. Not very many people know about using hydrogen peroxide. People think I'm weird until I explain it to them. Most people think that just because chemicals are on the shelves they are safe. Just because a surface is dry doesn't mean the residue from the chemical is still on the surface. And think about this- most antibacterial products are good at killing living cells that is why they kill bacteria, but throughout time the build up can be damaging to our living cells as well.

Disinfectant over use is one of the reasons we have so many strains of bacteria that are now resistant to antibiotics. Additionally, it is important for kids to build up their own resistance to bacteria.

Here are a few links to get you started...

In addition to Hydrogen Peroxide, plain old alcohol makes a great cleaning agent.

I should add, that I never used those wipes in the kitchen or on DS' high chair -- unless he had a major diaper blow out. Just wiped it down with a dish-rag. And I change out my dishrags, dish towels and hand towels daily.

I do bring them along when we go somewhere overnight. Hotel rooms can have nasty germs and with DS still being fairly young and maybe not so good at aiming... I bring them along for quick clean ups.
