Mail Order Meds...in the hot weather!!

So I ordered pulmozyme...and insurance needs a signature for it. The pharmacy told me LATE afternoon Wednesday. I got home at 2 and it was already attempted! I am sooooo frustrated!!! I don't know what to do because I am working all day (10-6 and 9-5) Thursday and Friday. UPS said they will attempt another delivery Thursday OR I can change the place/time. They will attempt 3 times before giving up...

Hubby will be home Friday, but will Pulmozyme still be cold? I chose Wed b/c I knew I would be home in the afternoon. Should I call the pharmacy NOW or wait until I see the damage Friday??

I think DH was able to go to the UPS facility and pick up a package once. Othertimes, he's made arrangements to change the delivery and have items delivered to his office.

I have DS' meds mailed to my office because there's always someone there.

While those icepacks from the pharmacy last quite a long time, not sure sure if you'd be okay til Friday. based on the packaging, pulmozyme IS good for 24 hours at room temperature....

Thanks! I did get in touch with UPS and am going to pick it up tonight. (I couldn't have changed it to my work because it is a different state...which would have probably been more of a hassle). Anyway, figured it out, can calm down...haha

You can also request extra "ice bricks". I'm in AZ right now, when I am having medicine shipped I usually tell the company they are allowed to leave it at the door, but to put in extra ice bricks. Everything has always been nice and cold when I get home -- even sitting in AZ heat.

I guess I should have said grrrr to the insurance company. They are the ones who require a signature.

And its a good thing I went to get it, because the ice was completely melted. I am sure the meds were on the truck all day...and it was 95+ around here.

I use UPS and FedX, no siginature required for me on any medication, they leave package at door when I am not at home.
Might want to talk with pharmacy about not requiring signature.
Good Luck.
