I was wondering ... well i'm sure most of you have this problem.. to an extent... but you know especially with this hot summer weather, your body sweats ... a lot... well i smelll really really bad.. actually really just in one arm.. but i have really sensitive skin... i have to use men's 24 hour protection deordant but it can only be the solid clear gel stuff cause everything and i mean everything else makes me itchy... and even then like if i put on the deordant and go outside within a half an hour i have just sweat and smelled right through the deordant... i was wondering what anyone else with this problem did to alleviate the stink...

Are you consuming lots of water? I know for me I tend to smell "mediciny" if I drink more juice or milk then water. I need the extra to flush my system of all that crap we need to take. I also found that if I let any hair grow in my armpits that the sweat builds up even with deodorant. I mean, we are talking stubbles from inbetween shaving, not Caveman look. Because I need to shave under my arm so frequently, I cant use soap, I use my husbands shaving cream for sensitive skin. I refuse to buy anything special. I hope you find something to help.

I have this prob as well....I use DrySol, you can get it at your pharmacy. You apply it once daily at bed time...twice in a row then only once it week. It works GREAT!! No more embarassing wet marks under my arms, no more smelly pits.

Mens deoderant? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think men had women have different Ph balances or something like that... Somens deoderant is designed specifically for the Ph of a man and the same with womens... Anyway, I don't think men's deoderant is all that effective for women. I'm kinda relying on a distant memory here, so I could be completely wrong.

I know what you mean about the sweating thing, though. By the time night comes around, I have to take a second shower because I can't sleep with my own stink. =-) Plus, all my shirts have that salty-sweat stain on them that's never coming out, and on some of the older ones the BO smell doesn't really wash out that well any more... I guess it's a good thing I'm not trying to impress anyone. =-)

i use driclor, same as drysol i think. only thing that helps me. cant say its exactly safe to be putting that much aluminium under your arm but hey, it does the job.

when using this stuff your underarm MUST be completely dry otherwise it will sting later on. either dust your armpits with talc or put a cold hairdryer on them, then apply the solution, wait a minute or 2 and blot any excess off with a tissue [doint wipe it off otherwise that defeats the whole purpose of putting it on]. if it ends up itching and stinging put some cortisone cream on there.

there is also something called prantal powder. i dont know what the US equivilant is. its just an anti perspirant powder. doesnt work for me but if you are prone to gettting itchy it might be better trying that first than drysol.

Just a thought. My husband (non CFer) has problems with his armpits. The only deodorants that seems to really work for him is Arm&Hammer because of the baking soda in it. He doesnt break out from it & he has pretty sensitive skin. Its also reasonably priced.

I'm a female with CF and tried many things as well, and am very sensative and can break out in rash with certain deodorants. I also found Arm & Hammer and it works very well for me.

I have sensitive skin and itch and break out with most deodorants. I just tried the new Dove deodorant and so far it is working well for me. The only other one I can use is a men's deodorant called Power Stick.
