Jeana-I have found my allergists PFT machine to be greatly different from my pulmonologist. That being said I would take a trip to the cf doc for a check up just to see where you are at. You are doing a great job at trying to be pro-active so just keep trying to get good sleep, eat right, excercise, adhere to therapies and stay on top of it. If you truly are seeing that big of a dip with all the hard work you are putting in then I would say IV's immediately.

Keep up the good work

oh and if all else fails you could quit the medication and excercise and just drink the worlds most alkaline beverage available--lemon juice in water <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

YES PLEASE REMEMBER

that what one person tried does not guarantee the same results for any other person so just offering your experience is one thing.....

its another to state it as complete and absolute truth!

My allergist sent my CF doc a copy of everything, so he is going to look at that and get back to me. He'll probably have me reblow. I also want to get a home PFT machine to watch my FEV1s for significant drops. I won't freak about small drops because I'm not sure how accurate they are, unless it's a continued pattern of dropping.

Also, does it take a long time for others for their albuterol to kick in? I need to do mine about an hour before blowing to have improvement.

I see that some people are saying that they wouldn't worry about it, but I would and I did! If you have that big of a drop and your FEV1 does not come back up, that is a reason for concern.

My FEV1 started dramatically dropping in March of 2006. I was sitting around the 40% range for a while, then dropped to 37%, and then dropped to 7% by the time I had my double lung and liver transplant in January 2007.

Big drops are nothing to mess with, especially if they don't come back up. I know that not everyone is the same, and no person with CF has the exact same end results, but that is one thing that my doc didn't let me mess with.
