Has anyone gotten a wish from Make a Wish? Dustin has gotten the oppertunity to make a wish, his wish is to go to Hawaii. We have talked to Lisa our make a wish lady. We are suppose to be going at the end of January which is great because thats abt. the time his 13th b-day is. When Emily was 12, we went to Calgary Canada and spent a day on a movie set with Jonathan Taylor-Thomas, Scott Bairstow and Devon Sawa (that was her wish - to meet Devon) Devon was the cute boy at the time on all the teenage magazines...he played the boy that Caspar turned into in the movie "Caspar". He was in Final Destination (the one with the vision that got off the plane) They were filming "Wild America" in Canada. We spent 6 days in Canada and got to see the zoo and the Rocky Mountains and a bunch of other stuff. The hotel we stayed in treated us like royalty and we had a rental car. It was a wonderful experience and we paid for nothing except souvenirs. Everything else was taken cre of by "The Starlight Foundation".

The way we got a wish was we were up at the CF clinic at the Oklahoma Childrens Hosp. on our routine 3mo visit and the social worker came in and asked us If we wanted to Make A Wish. Then she told us abt. it . Dustin meet with one of the MAW workers and told her his wish now we are waiting to go to Hawaii. You might check out the MAW website or ask at your CF clinic visit. Emily's wish happened through the social worker also. She asked Emily if she was interested in Make A Wish and Emily was so excited. The social worker put us in touch with them and they actually told us "Your child isn't sick enough because they are so close to a cure for CF". Emily was pretty upset, so the social worker worked her brains out to find another solution and came across The Starlight Foundation (out of New York) suported by many, many movie stars. They started working on her wish and within 6 months, we were in Canada. I think it was two weeks after her "official" wish was made, she already had contact with Devon. He sent a letter and several presents saying he was looking forward to her coming to Canada. Now, when I have a little extra $, some goes to the CF Foundation, but some also goes to the Starlight Foundation.
