Ok so I'm now t a point where I am on Medicare but I can no longer work. So i need to look at going on Medicaid in order to get help w copays, etc. (per cf attorney)

im asking opinions on how others make it financially. Do you get food stamps, additional financial help some how? I'm trying to avoid being a burden on my family and yet having some quality of life.

Im also trying to get BCMH because in Ohio CF qualifies me for that. I could hopefully get home iv's.

is there anything I'm overlooking? Ay advice you can give?

Thanks,
kelli

Gorf,
im trying to figure out what's available. Because I worked part time last year, I made too much to get financial help from my hospital. So although I WANT to work, it doesn't get me farther ahead in any way. It's just the opposite. I can get more assistance from sitting at home. :(

Now that I'm currently not working, I'm kind of questioning my purpose. Do I volunteer? How can I find purpose and fulfillment?

Also I'm engaged and due to his income knocking me out of financial guidelines, we can never get married.

this makes my head spin!!

I went through the same thing last year. Unfortunately everything varies from state to state for Medicaid and Food stamps. Basically from what I learned, in order for you to qualify for any state assistance you have to below the poverty level in your state (example Florida is like $20K a year) or have zero income at all. If you qualify you should be approved for some kind of assistance. Food stamp amounts are based on how many people are in your family. Medicaid is much more complicated. There are so many variations of the type of assistance Medicaid provides its hard to say what you would qualify for. My suggestion is to go to your states website and see what the qualifications are and go from there.

I agree with this statement. Everyone on here is going to mention different things because of the sate they live in. We have had this subject come up numerous times. It's a very confusing process! I'm not exactly sure how significantly different each sate is. Although, I'm from ohio as well so I think our sate is unfortunately one of the more complicated ones to deal with.

I get SII income. I have Medicaid AND Medicare. I'm unable to explain in depth about how I got both because my parents figured that out before I turned 18. I'm still on my dads insurance (anthem) which is SECONDARY because they have under 50 employee's. I used to have BCMH but I was dropped when I turned 21. I'm not concerned about that at the moment since my other insurances are currently covering most of the costs. I've talked about marriage with my boyfriend and we have no issue with not being "officially" married. Although in the long run I'm not sure how that will work concerning medical insurance for me. It's too far ahead to be thinking of that.

However, I do sometimes have that useless feeling just sitting around the house all day. It gets boring, it gets lonely and even depressing. I try to keep busy with my artwork, jewelry making and cleaning around the house. It can be very frustrating!

I hope you can figure out all the financial and insurances issues.

hugs to you
