Our daughter Rachel is 18 months old. She has tested positive for allergies to: wheat, barley, corn, oats, milk, eggs, beef, and pork (slightly -we avoid eating pork due to enzymes having a pork base and trying to have as little exposure as possible). She is doing okay on weight. We have added periactin daily which has helped. I am doing okay at cooking for her with our other foods, however, it is tough to get high calorie foods. Her favorite foods are fruits and vegetables, which are great for health, but not for weight gain. If anyone has any ideas, recipies, or wisdom to impart we would be very happy to listen. Rachel has also had a lot of digestive issues (she was born with Meconium Illius) but I think her digestive issues are due in part to her crazy diet. She eats a lot of rice products, and avocados which are constipating and meat (turkey, chicken, lamb, and deer) soaked in olive oil. We need some help if anyone has any ides. Thank you.

Our daughter is allergic to Milk (and used to be allergic to Soy though she has gotten over that.) We have found that she tolerates goat's milk so you might try that (though if she is very allergic to milk, she will probably be allergic to goat's milk also.) Sheep's milk would be even better (much higher in fat) but we've never found a supply.

Some of the things we use are strawberry or chocolate syrup which has 100 calories per 2Tbls. Every time she drinks goat's milk, she gets 2Tbls per 4oz. You might add it to other drinks if she can't drink goat's milk(rice or soy milk?.)

Duck and Goose are very fatty meats, though expensive. We will cook a duck or a goose (wild caught are much higher in fat), then render the carcass to get the remaining fat which can be used like olive oil. It has a very mild flavor.

Give her dried fruits. She may eat much more than she would fresh fruits and so get more calories.

Our son can't do dairy, very little soy, and I can't do wheat or dairy. We've struggled through this and it can get tough. I have alot of recipes on my site with food allergies in mind. I also have a list of brands which are gluten free and dairy free. We have found some great pastas which are either rice, lentil (very high in protein), or quinoa which are great alternatives for wheat issues. Also there are some alternatives to dairy in the way of protein powders such as goat (like you mentioned), hemp, rice and others. These can be added to smoothies and other things.

Coconut milks, flour (high in protein) and oil are good and my kids love the flavor. Also, I am researching the benefits of soaking grains which apparently aids in their break down and digestion. There is alot of wisdom in soaking grains and beans, and I am finding it makes them more digestible. Oatmeal use to send my blood sugar skyrocketing but now that I soak it over night in rice milk and cook on low heat, I have not problems. We add coconut oil, raisens, nuts, ect to add calories.

I noticed nothing about nuts...have you tried different nut butters? Ben loved almond and cashew. These are great in a blended drink or with apples/pears. You can take a apple slice, cover in nut butter and roll in rice crispies with a little honey or agave nectar. With a piece of turkey and a smoothie it is a great high cal snack with tons of nutrients.

I'd like to experiment with duck...

Warmly,
