Reece's family (MOME2RT) is still without power too. She said they are 1 of 8 homes in their neighborhood who are waiting to be restored. She checks daily, and they are not on the list again today. It must be very frustrating!

Would someone like Red Cross help hmw; don't they do Pulmozyme, Hypersal, and Tube feeds? They must need eletricity for that?

I used my eflow for all my meds until power was restored. It makes them a little more irritating to the lungs in my opinion, but better than skipping meds altogether. For sterilizing, I wiped everything down with alcohol wipes and rinsed the metal head in soapy water. For the future, I found a duracell converter that plugs into a car lighter and then you plug a regular AC plug into the converter, so I can run a regular PARI compressor in my car. Converter cost 26.99 in rite aid pharmacy.

I think a friend of theirs offered the use of a generator. She wasn't as concerned about tube feeds as she's not dependent upon them.Anyone hear how LouLou is doing? I saw on FB that she'd ordered a generator.

Oh man! Sorry to hear about all those without power. I feel very fortunate that we didn't lose ours - the hurricane spared our city but pounded many cities around us. You will be in my thoughts.

The Boston Sports Clubs (all locations) are allowing anyone with Massachusetts ID access to the club to work out, shower and charge cell phones. They may allow you to bring the equipment for treatments.

Our power is back!!! Thank you so much Jeanne for posting.

Our state has never had so many power outages all at once before. There are still MANY in our town and hundreds of thousands in my state w/o power that will still be out for days- the only reason we are back is because Emily is listed with our utility company as someone with a medical need so we were a higher priority than some others. There are parts of our state with no power, no land lines, no internet, no cell, no 911 service. That is truly frightening for those living with a medical condition.

We did inhalers and beatments... we have an inverter for our car that runs the nebulizer but the vest won't work with it. She uses the tube for night feeds but is currently doing well so I did not worry about that. However, we have a small supply of gravity bags that we could have used, and/or I'd bolus her as much as possible if she really needed tube feeds when power was out. She did ok with treatments as they were- however, if she was really sick, we'd have had a problem! A relative has a small generator so we were able to at least take showers. A generator is going to be on our list for something to consider for the future.

Wishing the best for everyone else affected by this storm!

I live in the tristate region near CT and MA, I was lucky but so many were not....lots of flooding and lines down. I am on the Fire dept.'s list for individuals who would require a generator as I am on O2/vent. They would provide one for me if I lost power for more than 24 hours, as long as my extra O2 and battery supply would last. Perhaps something like that could be done in the future for you guys who require electricity for nebs, O2, tube feedings etc....I am also on my power company's list as far as priority repairs go, sometimes very difficult if widespread outages occur, but it doesn't hurt to let them know in advance.
I pray that those without power get it back soon.
Hugs, Jenn

We purchased a small generator a couple years ago just in case there were issues due to flooding. We haven't used it, but a colleague borrowed this summer for a day or two to keep his sump pump in his basement running. My inlaws also have a one. The household ones aren't all that expensive.

Prior to that, I always figured worst case scenerio there's a generator at DH's office and there's one on the other side of my office building in the public safety department.

If you use a gererator, remember it must be run outdoors and at least 10 feet from your home. NEVER RUN A GENERATOR INSIDE YOUR HOME OR GARAGE!!

So glad people are getting their power back on! My place of work and my husband 's place of work will run on generator if the power goes out. A couple times we have loaded Maggie in the car with her vest and nebs to use them in my husband office...My place of work is a hospital so I would avoid bringing her there if at all possible...but I am sure they would set us up in some sort of office away from patient care, but still........

You are so right Bill. A family in our state became very ill w/ carbon monoxide poisoning due to running their generator in the garage after losing power.
