Marinol

I know Marinol (THC) has been discussed in the forum before, I just wanted to add my two cents!

I have had a lot of trouble dealing with nausea and decreased appetite. I have a g-tube, but had a hard time keeping down my full feed.

The ID team I saw at my last transplant clinic appointment suggested Marinol, and I think it's great! I've never weighed this much EVER. I gained 8 pounds in a week in the hospital and all the residual nausea that zofran didn't help with is gone! I'm keeping my feeds down and everything. I feel so much better now that I'm actually eating a lot during the day in addition to my night feeds- and I'm ENJOYING eating, which is new to me.

Just wanted to put it out there that marinol helps nausea too. I had heard of it for appetite stimulation, but the anti-emetic properties were what sold me on it!

Out of curiosity, what is your dose of marinol? I'm on it, but I've never really seen or felt a big difference. Thanks!

Cool, Julie!

I have tried Marinol as well and aside from making me seriously loopy, it doesn't do sqaut for my appetite. Although I bet it would help with the nausea cause it is extremely relaxing for me. Glad its helping you!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
