Hi, I am a teacher also and my insurance will only cover fertility counseling, not the procedure. We are looking into my husband's insurance to see if they will at least cover his retrieval. Wow, the fertility center we went to didn't do any financial anything. They told us the price and said go home and decide if you truly want to do this. As far as I know they don't offer a refund either. I think I will look into other places to see what they offer. Good luck with your procedure!! Thanks for the help!

The first clinic we went to quoted us 22,000, they wanted the money up front and then they would bill insurance to see if they would pick anything up. I was devastated! I talked to Julie and their clinic was much less! We ended up doing it in Seattle at their clinic. We ended up paying between 10 and 12,000. Also they billed insurance first to see if they would pick anything up before they billed us. Although they had told us they wouldn't cover anything except the consultation they ended up picking up my medicine and few other little things. So you just might be surprised. My husbands parents helped us out with the cost and we had a savings account set up for it. We would put all our birthday/Christmas money in it and whatever "extra's" came in.

Gemini, I'd like to talk to you off the board if you are ok with that. Email me at services@dafcf.org there ARE options out there.

One that is available is THE HEART scholarship available from www.inciid.org I was actually awarded the scholarship in March/April of 2006 but was already pregnant. They are legitimate, but do have a VERY extensive application, and their review takes 6-12 months, so start now!

We saved for 4 years, and borrowed the other 5k from a relative. I would do it a MILLION times over for the outcome, it is SOOOOOOOO worth it.

To the original poster, I don't have the info right this second but have you heard about the pineapple regimine or accupuncture with your IVF? If you do a search on this forum I believe you will find info on both. If not, let me know and I'll dig it up <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Gemini, also try visiting www.fertilethoughts.com and the forums at www.inciid.com You can get great recommendations from other women who've BTDT in your area. They can recommend great clinics and ones to stay away from!
