massive booty oil

Ok so here goes. For the longest time my digestion was fine, with the occasional exception of missing my pills when I was younger and having the explosive orange oil come visiting. Many years ago, I noticed no matter when or how many enzymes I took, unless I was eating something totally low in/free of fat, I would have the booty orange oil. After a few weeks of this on my next visit I told my doc, and he said that our bodies are highly acidic, and it's probably too much stomache acid messing up the enzymes ability to do their job, or something similar explanation wise to this, but it focused on the acid. So he gave me prevacid to take once a day. Up untill I got on zithromax, and hearing that antacids in general can screw up many other drugs unless you space them out, prevacid at times was skipped/forgotten about in favor of the "more important drugs".

I have been on Lipram Ul 20 for a long time. They are the generic of Ultrase MT 20. Well apparently the FDA wanted all makers of generic enzymes to prove they work by doing testing and crap, which was very expensive, so basically most if not all of the generic producers of these enzymes said bye bye and no longer make those products. So now I am on Ultrase MT 20 name brand. I don't think I have ever had booty oil this bad before. Today was the second day I woke up and found my sport boxers saturated in the stuff (happened in my sleep). Which I can never remember happening before. I don't do anything purposely stupid like eat crisco and drink grease, and during the week my diet is pretty normal with emphasis on protein for the gym.

So I guess I am asking, should there be that big of a difference in effectiveness between a generic and a name brand? I was having problems with the booty oil for maybe 2 weeks before going onto the name brand. Between my sinus crap, my phantom bleeds, all the diagnostic tests to figure out whats going on, and recently almost breaking my toe, I seriously don't need another CF related chronic problem to pop up.

So anyone else have any probs similar to mine giving the circumstances?

Hey,
Sorry you're having to deal with all of this. My 9 year old son has that problem, but there is no rhyme or reason to it. He is on Pancrecarb MS-8 and has been for the last five years. I wish I could say his oily problems happen when it is time to change enzymes or doses, but that's not the case. The problem kind of goes away on its own and pops up again once in a while. I can't say his weight is fantastic, hovers around 10th% for height and weight, so maybe he does need a higher dose/different kind, but when the problem clears up he seems to do just fine. I've found no patterns with foods and he is on prevacid once daily, too.

Wish I could be more help, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone. If you come up with any profound answers send them our way, would you? Good luck!

I got SO SCREWED UP when I was on generic enzymes. It took me more than 6 months to get back on track with my poop and tummy aches. Since switching to pancreacarb, I've actually had formed BMs.

I'm on Zantac for the acidity. Occasionally I also take a Rolaids, which helps with the gas and bloating. I really don't have the oily problems unless I skip my zymes.

I have read NEVER take Generic Enzymes. So, maybe you can try the Ultase MT 20. Also try taking more enzymed with meals. Talk to doctor and he/she can tell you how many you should be taking. If paying for the enzymes is an issue your clinic can give you information on getting them FREE. There is a way I believe to get them FREE

GOOD luck!
