Matt's Special Tree

Since this was the first Christmas without my son, Matt, I wanted to be able to do something that would make things a little easier on the family to be able to get through this difficult time. I was not going to put up any decorations this year until I came up with the idea of Matt's special tree. I asked all of Matt's friends and family to make or buy a special ornament that pertained to their friendship between one another. The response was overwhelming and I now have this wonderful tree full of wonderful memories of Matt.

I don't think that I will be putting these ornaments away either, they're just to precious to get out once a year, so I think I am going to look for a nice glass cabinet to display them in so they can be looked at all year long.

I think this is a fantastic idea. You really came up with a perfect way to keep his memoru alive & that coordinated not only with the holiday by putting them on the tree, but being able to display them year round.

That is a wonderful idea.. The tree looks great... I am glad that you decided to put up some decorations... I have CF, but I am also very close to someone who has CF and who is very sick right now.. So I understand both sides of the coin.not wanting to celebrate etc..... In one way.. I feel like since I still have my health so to speak... I want to live everyday to the fullest in honor of them.. sort of like doing the things that they can't do right now...and doing it to the best of my ability for them....

Also as a Cfer.. I want my family to go on when I die.. I want them to do things.. enjoy their life...One thing that I know would make me sad after I die is to know that ppl are not going on and enjoying every moment of life....That is one of my biggest fears is having my families life ruined..and for sure nothing would give me more pleasure then to see them.. living it up... and savoring every day...

anyway.. I love the tree... I think you will get lots of joy out of it for years to come.... I hope you had a peaceful Christmas...

I LOVE THE TREE.......this is gail by the way i always forget to sign in.
i think its was such a great thing to do for matt. i hope the tree gave you some comfort. i was thinking of you a lot on christmas, as well as everyone who lost a loved one as i did too.
