MDI vs. Nebulizer

My son being close to a year is not enjoying his 55 minute treatment so much anymore! So at our last clinic visit we discussed this and they wanted me to start using the Albuterol in the MDI (inhaler) and then procede with the Hypertonic Saline along with his vest. This cuts off about 15 minutes of his treatment per session. Who wouldn't choose this route, right?
As a worried mom, my question is.....is the MDI just as effective as the nebulizer? And what is the difference? It would be awesome to also hear from some of you who personally have CF and can tell me the difference from your point of view knowing and feeling what the difference (if any) may be?

So they say that MDI's are just as effective as a regular neb.... as long as you do the MDI right.

My personal experience (and it may be my own user error <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ) is that the neb is way more effective.

I wouldnt choose this route for myself. For me I like the moistness of the neb. I believe it helps me bettet long term then the inhaler.

That being said there are quite a few people who prefer the inhalers also.

As long as results are good then I would do what works.

I find the neb works better. But, I am probably not doing the the MDI completely right, even though I'm using a spacer.
